Through a statement, some representatives of associations hope that the plan procedure will be effective.
The producers of the Organic Agricultural Production Association of Pasaje (Asopaop), San Miguel de Brasil, Asoguabo, Fincas de El Oro and others showed their support for the plan against theFusariumrace 4, presented on November 26.
This support was also joined by the La Guayas Agricultural Association, the Production and Life Agricultural Production Association, the Oro Verde Cooperative, Asoproabacao, Tierra Fértil, Asoprobadi, the El Checo Banana Workers Association and representatives of small producers.
“We are grateful to you, Mr. President (Guillermo Lasso), and to the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (Pedro Álava) for the launch of the plan againstFusariumrace 4. We hope that the execution of the plan is effective, as is the process to build the products carried out as a national emergency,” the statement says.
In addition, it mentions the participation in the training carried out by the State portfolio on theFusariumraza 4.
This has a budget of $400 million for the next five years. This was revealed by the Banana and Platan Cluster of Ecuador through a press release.
The plan foresees, in the event that the plague - which has already been detected in Colombia and Peru - reaches the country, the activation of the 1800 AGRO-00 telephone line, the mobile Agro applications and the ECU911 single line, among other measures.
According to the Banana Cluster, the economic losses that the presence of this pest would have in Ecuador are estimated at $26 million per week.
Currently, the country currently exports 7.8 million boxes of bananas per week.
