Mining is the fourth most exported product in the country, after oil, banana and shrimp, according to the statistics of the Central Bank.
The Ministry of Energy and Non -Renewable Natural Resources reported that between January and February mining exports reached a value of $ 209.58 million,According to the data published by the Central Bank of Ecuador and the statements of the National Customs Service of Ecuador (SENAE).
The figure represents 5.68% of national total exports,After oil, bananas and shrimp, and place mining as the fourth most exported item of the year.
In this context, the Deputy Minister of Mines, Juan Carlos Ochoa, informed that during the first two months of 2021"Mining products exports are 85% higher than those made in the same period of 2020".
It is also important to indicate that the30% of the total Ecuadorian mining products has Chinese destination, making it the largest importer, followed by the United States with 22% and Switzerland with 18%.In addition to these countries, Germany, Bulgaria and Peru are other destinations of these exports.
It is important to indicate that the mining products exported by Ecuador are gold, copper, silver and their respective concentrates, as well as other minerals, which are transported from the mines to the export sites under strict sanitary measures arranged by the national government and contemplated in the Biosafety Protocol of the mining sector, to protect the health and safety of workers and surrounding communities.
The National Government, through the Non -Renewable Energy and Natural Resources Regulation and Control Agency, verifies that mineral exports are carried out within the current technical and legal parameters.
In 2019, large -scale mines viewpoint and northern fruit, located in Zamora Chinchipe, began the production of copper concentrate and gold concentrate, respectively.
