This public-private alliance promotes the adoption of collection technology developed by Banco del Pacífico and supported by Mastercard.
A strategic alliance that will grant a series of facilities for medium, small and tourist microentrepreneurs to access digital payment tools in their respective businesses is what the authorities of the Ministry of Tourism, Banco del Pacífico and Mastercard Ecuador announced.
This public-private alliance promotes the adoption of collection technology developed by Banco del Pacífico and supported by Mastercard, which will allow tourist establishments to receive payments through credit or debit cards, without having to buy or rent POS devices.
The initiative was presented last week by the Minister of Tourism, Rosi Prado de Holguín; the Undersecretary of Competitiveness, Sebastián Meléndrez; the National Payment Media Manager of Banco del Pacífico, Elías Ronquillo; and the Mastercard General Manager, Guadalupe Durán.

"Thanks to these digital media, biosafety measures, reduce physical contact, have automated information and open new markets, all this providing quality service and strengthening the confidence of travelers," said Prado.
Meléndrez indicated that access to the Safe Travels seal will be promoted, which is granted to the tourist localities and establishments that comply with the proper biosecurity measures. To date, this recognition has been received by 31 destinations and 600 premises nationwide.
"For Mastercard, the acceptance of digital payments in new businesses that benefit both travelers, to the extent that they will have more chances of paying services in an easy, fast and safe way," said Durán.
A few months ago, Mastercard asked Latin American users about the experiences he wants to contribute and it resulted in 93% of Ecuadorians said they prefer to spend in their community to help their shops recover. And 92% prefer to pay by credit or debit card in small businesses.
Elías Ronquillo, National Payment Media Manager of Banco del Pacífico, explained what the digital payment technology that will be promoted with the motto is: Let's do it easy.
BDPOS of Banco del Pacífico is an application aimed at those who are not able to acquire a physical pos or invest in a web page to make their sales. Users can join any smart device and, for this, they must have the image of the RUC, card of the legal representative and spouse on the phone.
