The airline has an offer of six weekly flights and more than 7,000 monthly chairs.
With the take -off of the AV1604 flight from the Mariscal Sucre International Airport on Monday, Avianca began operations between Quito and Cuenca.
The airline will operate six weekly flights, which represents more than 7,000 monthly chairs available in Airbus A320 aircraft.
"Today, with the operation of this route, we respond positively to the order that many clients had been doing for a long time to fly to Cuenca; today Cuenca joins the connectivity that Avianca offers within Ecuador and the more than 90 destinations in America and Europe that are part of our network of routes. We know that our operation will boost tourism and there Avianca, in the opening event of the route while highlighting the importance of Ecuador for regional connectivity.
During this event, the Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Marcelo Cabrera, stressed that these actions give economic and tourist impulse to the city of Cuenca. In addition, there will be a greater supply of flights for users.
"This initiative shows that the government's government works on air connectivity and open skies policies that guarantee safe transitability to all travelers," he said.
The mayor of Cuenca, Pedro Palacios, said that the operation of the Avianca airline is thanks to the management carried out as the Municipal Corporation, with the aim of improving the air connection of the Azuaya capital.
"We work as from the first day, for the benefit of the Cuenca families, today we see the result of this united work, which allows us more people to arrive in Santa Ana de los Ríos de Cuenca to admire their beauty and be part of the economic reactivation," Palacios said.
Meanwhile, Ramón Miró, president and general director of Corporation Quiport, a company that operates and manages the Mariscal Sucre de Quito airport, congratulated Avianca for the opening of the new route between Quito and Cuenca.
