Company presents its connectivity plan until 2022.
Avianca announced Thursday in Ecuador an ambitious plan to add new international destinations until 2022.
The airline, which has a subsidiary in Ecuador, will fly to Miami, New York, Medellín and Cali from Quito and Guayaquil.
There will be four new destinations, but that will include seven direct routes, as several of those flights will leave both Ecuadorian cities.
Currently, Avianca has 23 direct weekly flights to Bogotá and El Salvador and has five destinations domestic operation.
David Alemán, general director of Avianca for Central and South America of Avianca, said that direct connectivity with Miami and New York is something that the Ecuadorian passenger has been asking, as they are markets with a strong tourist component and visiting family members.
"With this operation we also seek to strengthen the offer so that more American passengers arrive and know Ecuador, especially Galapagos, which is a destination of great interest in the region," said German.
As part of this process, Avianca Ecuador has already asked the Civil Aviation Council of Ecuador to grant permission to fly the Guayaquil-New York route, with up to seven weekly frequencies.
Alemán explained that until the first half of 2022 they hope to activate these new international routes, which will demand important team investments.
The airline has domestic flights to Quito, Guayaquil, Manta, San Cristóbal and Baltra. From October 4 he will also fly to Cuenca with six weekly frequencies.
The Minister of Tourism, Niels Olsen, said that the destination of Cuenca will be promoted more to allow a good air occupation.
The incorporation of the new routes is part of a global plan of the company that involves 23 new routes in several Latin American countries.
"Launch 23 new routes until 2022 shows that we want to continue growing sustainably and that we have the firm purpose of continuing to be the airline with the most robust route network in our region," said Manuel Ambriz, Chief Commercial Office of Avianca.
For the Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Marcelo Cabrera, the incorporation of new routes and frequencies by Avianca represents good opportunities, especially for employment generation.
