Aeroregional already provided services to the capital of Azuaya, but for issues related to the pandemic and pending values that it maintained with the Airport Corporation of Cuenca (CORPAC) stopped doing it temporarily, explained the mayor of the city, Pedro Palacios, who reported the morning of this Monday that after overcoming these situations his return was remembered. Although in the beginning the airline resumes operations with four weekly frequencies, the increase will be given according to the demand for passengers.
With their arrival, travelers will have one more alternative, because so far trips to the capital are made by the LATAM airline, which dominates the market with fifteen frequencies from Monday to Sunday.
In addition, Palacios advanced the possibility of new aerial operators alternatives: "For the last quarter, at least for direct conversations that I have been able to do with executives from Avianca, new frequencies with them will be incorporated."
At the moment, in Cuenca there is a flow of 15,000 passengers a month, said the director of the Corpac, Juan Pablo Vega, and although he is optimistic that this figure grows, he did not dare to give an increase in an increase, because the world still lives with the Covid-19 pandemic.
From this Friday 9, Aeroregional will operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday with Boeing 737-500 aircraft at the following times: Quito leaves at 7:00 p.m. and lands in Cuenca at 7:45 p.m. take off return at 8:30 p.m. and up to the capital at 9:15 p.m.
The cost of the passage (round trip) is $ 160, including taxes, as reported on the company's social networks.
