Guayaquil Port Terminal will invest $20.9 million in the purchase of seven state-of-the-art cranes

Three cranes will arrive between April and May of this year, while four additional cranes will arrive at the port in December, the port terminal reported.

ThePort Terminal of Guayaquil (TPG)It plans to invest $ 20.9 million in the purchase of seven latest technology cranes.

As reported by the terminal, Between April and May 2022 Three cranes are expected to arrive, one of them will be the overpostpanamax, which will have a horizontal reach on the 65 -meter ship (reaching the 23 containers to row) and with a capacity of 75 tons.

In DecemberOn the other hand, four porch cranes will arrive on tires (better known as RTG).

TPG also indicated that it will continue with the Comprehensive Process Automation Plan, among which are to include greater technology, such as biometric facial recognition systems, online billing services and real -time information consultation for all users, among others.

Luis Enrique Navas, TPG manager,He pointed out that it is important to invest in port infrastructure to effectively meet the demand that exists due to the increase in exports and imports of the country, especially, because the dynamics of world trade do not stop.

Balance of 2021

On the results obtained during 2021, the head of TPG stressed that through the Port Terminal542,000 containers were mobilized (20 and 40 feet). The figure reached, he said, marked a milestone since it was the year with the highest load movement in the history of the terminal.

In 2021,The terminal received a total of 277 vessels.45 % were large ships, between 300 and 367 meters in length, which allow transporting between 8,000 and 14,000 containers.

Among the main products exported from TPG are banana, shrimp, wood, canned fish, minerals and cocoa, which were transported to China, Chile, India, Japan, Argentina, United States, among others.

By the products received, About 62 % of imports were chemical, resins, paper and derivatives, electronic equipment, varied merchandise, metals and spare parts of vehicles.
