The small farmer continues with its production in the field, companies advance with their manufacturing and input creation operations, logistics companies maintain their routes, while the places of Expendio (large and small) must continue to function; It is an immense creative chain of work and economic activity whose basis is agribusiness, a strategic entity that at the same time has social responsibility.

Comprehensive professionals for a better future in the agroindustrial sector

Pandemia has visible the resilience of the agricultural sector and its importance in food production for the population, promoting the sustainable economic recovery of countries and in Ecuador is one of the most important pillars in the economy. In this context, its protagonists expect the State to continue with a fundamental role and show increasing support for small farmers and large industries, in credits and technology, so that the sector strengthens.

For its part, the Engineering career in Agronomy of the USFQ seeks to implement a better link between the agricultural sector and the business sector, mainly supporting small and medium producers in technological, economic and financial aspects; while forming comprehensive and multidisciplinary professionals, taking into consideration sustainable production processes; At the same time, it provides the possibility of doing 1 year of studies at international universities leaders of the agricultural sector such as Oregon State University and Lille Catholic University (France) and short internships abroad. All this complying with the philosophy of the liberal arts that allows to form critical agronomists, of liberal and entrepreneurial spirit. In addition:

  • The USFQ has the field infrastructure in different climatic areas of the country, to strengthen the academic experience and professional practice, in addition to specialized laboratories.

  • The possibility of carrying out business internships paid abroad through the IAESTE program that allows you to practice in 82 countries.

Scholarships

The College of Sciences and Engineering of the San Francisco University of Quito USFQ organizes the contest to opt for a scholarship for the Agronomy career in “Norman Borlaug” agronomy, with the aim of promoting scientific research, stimulating intellectual development, and promoting the ingenuity and creativity of Ecuadorian young people.

The awards to be granted are:

  • First 100% scholarship prize.
  • Second 75% scholarship prize.
  • Third 50% scholarship prize.

1.All students who are enrolled in the third year of Baccalaureate of all schools legally recognized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Ecuador and the graduated students the immediately previous year (2020) may participate in the contest.

2.Registration to participate in the “Norman Borlaug” contest must register by line from Tuesday, January 19, 2021 until Friday, April 23, 2021.
