Ports of Ecuador registered an increase in the mobilization of cargo during 2021

The port of Guayaquil received 1,764 vessels and Manta attended 461 ships.

There are 3,383 international traffic ships, of different draft, which were mobilized by the country's commercial and oil ports, both public and private, during 2021, according to the Undersecretariat of Ports and Maritime and Fluvial Transportation.

The port of Guayaquil, through public and private terminals, received 1,764 vessels, Manta attended 461 ships, Puerto Bolívar arrived 396 ships thanks to the entry of new international shipping companies and Esmeraldas, 66 ships.

While to the oil superintendencies of Balao (Esmeraldas), La Libertad (Santa Elena) and El Salitral (Guayaquil), where national hydrocarbon is mobilized, 696 ships of international traffic tanks arrived.

As for the containerized loading movement, Ecuadorian ports reflected a slight increase, import and export, which went from 2′294.681 TEU in 2020 to 2′370.031 TEU in 2021, which represents a growth of 3.28 %. While in metric tons (TM) it grew by 8 %, from 52′743.426 TM to 57′029.484 Tm.

In Guayas, the delegate DP World Posorja, head of the Postorja deep port port marked records in productivity figures at the regional level, reaching movements of up to 47.1 containers per hour.

The participation of the port market obtained 10 % capture and 35 % transfording load, competing with important ports of the west coast of the South Pacific. Thus also reached a draft of 14.65 meters, upon receiving the post Panamax CMA - CGM ship.

In the port of Esmeraldas, the liquid bulk ranked number one in “type” maneuvering load (palm and soybean oil) with 92,000 TM, solid bulk (Petcoke and scrap) with 83,000 TM and vehicular load with 27,000 TM (cars and machinery).

In gold, from Puerto Bolívar, copper concentrate was exported to China. This mineral is the second product with the greatest transfer for this terminal, after the banana. In 2021 the shipment was increased by 222 %.

In Manabí, the cargo mobilized in the International Terminal of the Port of Manta, in regards to imports, exports and transford, had an increase of 30 %, with 1′081,966 million TM, being the import of vehicles that obtained the greatest growth with 59 % and, 68,490 mobilized units.

And the Fisheries and Cabotage Terminal of Manta attended 4,876 ships, between industrial and artisanal.
