New services and technological advances for the shrimp industry are exhibited at the Aquaexpo Guayaquil 2021

More than 150 companies exhibit their products in the commercial area of the fair and more than 30 talks will be given at the scientific congress.

Different actors in the shrimp sector arrived at the Aquaexpo Guayaquil 2021, in which more than 150 companies exhibit services, technological novelties, machinery and vehicles in 200 stands in the Convention Center. With biosafety measures, those attending the event arrived from 09:00 on Tuesday 26 promoted by knowing the novelties of the sector, which mostly concentrated in the Scientific Congress that develops in parallel to the Commercial Fair.

The advances in nutrition was the theme that opened this forum, by Alejandro Daqui, of the company Cargill, who presented the technology used for the early food of the shrimp offered by this firm. The expert recalled that in the last two years the shrimp industry has experienced a significant impact on costs.

"63 % of the Ecuadorian shrimp is exported to Asia, particularly to China, last year and with the COVID-19 prices collapsed, apart from the volume was lost, a little by the pandemic and another because the supply chain disappeared both in India and Ecuador Competitiveness

The first, said the expert, already performed the laboratories generating larvae with a much greater genetic potential than the one that is seen in the pools, which translates into food and food conversion.

The second element, he added, has to do with the market strategy to attend, as he assured that a large part of the exports of Ecuadorian shrimp are now made to the United States and Europe with other presentations and sizes that are used in the Asian market, which forces the industry to take much more care of costs when producing.

"When one exports queues, it makes added value, the loss of utility for each pound of shrimp produced is more shocking," said Daqui, who said that with the early nutrition strategy it is sought to optimize through food, which represents between 60 % and 70 % of the cost of production of the shrimp.

Meanwhile, Vitapro and his Nicovita brand shared experiences and good practices related to the integration of technologies and technological scaling, which strengthen shrimp production models.

Gabriel Freire, technological specialist in Vitapro Ecuador, said that competitiveness followed by the maximization of positive results are some of challenges facing the industry.

"Therefore, it is essential to conceive of technology as an ally, invest in an orderly process of stages to achieve the adoption of technology, as well as in systems that allow the interpretation of the data and accompany those processes with experts in technical advice," he explained.

The event was inaugurated last Monday night by the Deputy Minister of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Andrés Arens, who stressed that the shrimp was the main non -oil export product in 2020, covering 26 % of it, with $ 3,824 million sold abroad. In addition, between January and August of 2021, this product remained the most exported to markets such as the United States, the European Union, China, Russia, among others, representing income of $ 3,175 million.

Meanwhile, José Antonio Camposano, Executive President of the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA), organizer of the event, said that Camaronera is one of the main economic activities that more than 260,000 families support directly and indirectly. "We return to the Aquaexpo to feed our curiosity to find new ways of advancing in this process of continuous improvement that has allowed our sector to deal with the natural difficulties that everything has," said the manager.

In addition, during the inauguration, awards were given to Alejandro Aguayo, founding president of the CNA, and Antonio Lince, Camaronero producer, for his impulse to the innovation of the sector through sustainable practices.

Meanwhile, the commercial exhibition also highlights in the Aquaexpo, the machinery attracted the curiosity of the attendees, such as a Rühle, a marinated machine (tumbling) of shrimp.

"This opens the product fibers because it has a vacuum system and also a double system that helps keep the product cold ... in the process the shrimp is losing weight, it is dehydrating and this helps to hydrate again and gain a little weight," said Carlos Molina, a commercial technical assistant of the Aditmaq company, who indicated that this machinery is used by shrimp exporters, although it can be applied in other sectors such as sectors such as sectors.

Industrial machinery, such as Ruhle, a machine for marinating (Tumbling) of Camarones, offered by the Aditmaq company. They attracted the attention of the Aquaexpo Guayaquil 2021.

The exhibited team has the capacity to work 120 kilos and is priced at $ 28,000.

Another sector that caught attention was the logistics, through mobilization. Santiago Robayo, manager of the Costauto region of Mareauto Avis, highlighted the launch of therentingof productive assets, a new product that was launched in the Aquaexpo.

“It includes the modality of rent and everything that is forklift, lifting equipment, electrogen equipment, immersion pumps, including a topic of medical equipment that we are putting them in a modality ofrenting”Robayo specified, who explained that the rental of assets and vehicles in the shrimp sector helps in financial efficiency to companies that do not have to make large investments to mobilize or establish automotive fleets or to buy some productive assets.

He stressed that one of the services of its form with greater demand from the shrimp sector has to do with telemetry, a technological platform installed in each of the vehicles that are replicated in an application in which precise information is obtained regarding the location, the route and the mileage, the maintenance delivered and received from the vehicle; and security issues through the monitoring of the routes that vehicles make.

The fair will be open until Thursday, October 28.
