More than 3 million vaccines against the coronavirus will be allocated to Quito after an agreement between the mayor and the Minister of Health.

Mayor Jorge Yunda and Minister Mauro Falconí met this afternoon to seek agreements for the vaccination plan.

This afternoon a delegation from the Municipality of Quito met, led by the mayorJorge Yundaand officials of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), represented by the ministerMauro Falconi.In it, agreements were discussed for the distribution and logistics of thevaccination planfor the capital. Jorge Yunda informed upon leaving the meeting that tomorrow an agreement will be signed forthree million two hundred thousand vaccinesthat will be destined for Quito. The meeting took place at the MSP offices located on the government platform of Quitumbe, south of Quito.

Mayor Yunda reported that these vaccines will serve to immunize around one million, two hundred thousand people of the most populated city in the country. He also said that the surrounding cantons those it represents.

Tomorrow, after the signing of the agreement with the MSPvaccination will beginYunda said. He also reported that the Municipality of Quito will have all thelogisticswith 400 vehicles, a helicopter, around five thousand officials, 100 vaccination posts, technological management for health surveillance, teams of intensivists and emergency physicians for public hospitals that do not have these due to the saturation of beds with patients fromCovid-19.

Mayor Yunda predicts that byAugust 31ends thereimmunizationof the city. The Municipality of Quito will keep the “Quito Solidario” Temporary Care Center open for the care of patients who require hospitalizationmild and moderate,as reported.

The approximately 300,000 older adults that Quito has will be the first to benefit, then it will be the other fronts, said the mayor, “having three million two hundred thousand vaccines and us providing the logistics, means that together we can once again fight against this nightmare, against this health tragedy,” added Yunda.
