One million doses of vaccines from the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac will arrive in the country. 300,000 on April 4 and 700,000 on the 8th of the same month.
In accordance with the schedule agreed upon between the Ministry of Public Health and the pharmaceutical company Sinovac, the first million vaccines will be shipped by air in the coming days.
The logistics includes two shipments: 300,000 doses on April 7 and 700,000 on April 10.
Carlos Larrea, ambassador of Ecuador in Beijing, attended the Sinovac facilities today to verify, together with representatives of that company, the first dispatch to the airport warehouses of the COVID-19 vaccines that were acquired by the Ministry of Public Health from Ecuador.
Ambassador Larrea expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Government and the pharmaceutical company Sinovac for having prioritized this first supply to Ecuador – the largest volume to be received so far – as a result of the excellent level of cooperation maintained by both countries. Larrea also said that President Lenín Moreno addressed a letter, days ago, to the Chinese head of State, Xi Jinping, in this regard.
Carlos Larrea also referred to the support of the People's Republic of China for the adoption, by consensus, within the framework of the UN Human Rights Council, of the draft resolution proposed by Ecuador to guarantee universal access to vaccines to combat the coronavirus.
