Ecuador announced a project to issue digital Phytosanitary Export Certificates

Ecuador announced that it will begin to issue Export Phytosanitary Certificates (CFE) digital, as part of the "Ephyto" project, which was launched on Wednesday morning by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), the Agency for Regulation and Control Fito and Zoosanitary (Agrocality) and the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) Ecuador, as part of the sustainable bananas project.

During launch,Minister Xavier LazoHe explained that according to international regulations, exports and transport of plant products outside the country require a phytosanitary export certificate (CFE), an emission that has several components that involve the need for face -to -face actions.

Lazo indicated that the digitalization of these certificates is part of the 2030 agricultural public policy, which seeks to improve productivity and accelerate the simplification of procedures; positively influencing costs.

He added that the main objective of the project is Ecuador's entry to digital processes of global commercial exchange and that with the support of the GIZ an agile system that reduces the time of administrative processes for exports will be created, which will provide greater health security. At the same time with this initiative the problems caused by documentary rejection, among others, are reduced.

Christine Danne, resident director of the GIZ, agreed with the minister by indicating that digitalization is in line with international trade regulations, in addition to reducing times in the procedures, takes care of people's health in the face of possible risks of infection, as well as protects the environment.

While,Philipp Schauer, German ambassador to EcuadorHe said that the project will strengthen and expedite the export of agricultural products.
