CORDEX is made up of the CNA, AEBE, Acorbanec, the CNP, Ancacao and ASOEXPLA.
The creation of a new guild that represents the export sector, theCorporation of Exporting Guilds of Ecuador (Cordex), generated interest in specialists and actors of foreign trade that already analyze their action plan and how it will develop in an ecosystem where there are already voices with similar objectives.
The new corporation, which was created last August 11, but was officially presented last Wednesday, is made up of the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador (AEEBE), the Banana Marketing and Export Association (Acorbanec), the National Association of Cocoa Exporters of Ecuador (Anecacao), the Association of Banana Exporters (ASOEXPLA), the National Fishing Chamber (CNP) of aquaculture (CNA).
The economic analyst Jorge Calderón He believes that although Cordex has a similar approach in the search for trade agreements, the impulse of exports and the construction of public policies, that other unions, such as the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor), The new entity would aim to have a better push, maneuver and coordination capacity.
He pointed out that these unions are the largest of the country's exportable offer, which already have a developed logistics and production capacity that will allow them to position and grow rapidly in large markets such as China and the United States, where they already have a presence.
Calderón analyzed that Cordex is more specialized, since he indicated that the guilds that make it up group between 70 % and 75 % of non -oil exports in the country, which so far are $ 14,000 million, of which around $ 10,500 million are generated by the members of the new group.
Based on this, he highlighted the difference between Cordex and Fedexpor, which according to the expert is that the latter covers the representativeness of all exports, even those that have a low amount and seek to open markets to enhance.
"(Cordex) would not be so relegated by joining other smaller sectors that are just making their space, I think it is the main impulse they have, a wide maneuvering capacity depending on the level of representativeness that it has and not depending or anchoring depending on the smallest sectors of export," Calderón said.
While,Francisco Miranda, president of Anecacao and part of the Board of Directors of the new guildHe said that the creation of Cordex was due to the transverse needs of the guilds that integrate it.
"There are multiple guilds that represent the export sector, but the message is very diffuse, it is not direct, the needs of the small exporter of any item are not necessarily the same of the large export groups," explained the businessman, who added that they have spaces to cover in the internal sector with the national government and that at the international level they seek that their message is direct, effective and more valuable for the Ecuadorian economy.
Richard Salazar, Executive Director of Acorbanec, partner and part of the Board of Directors of Cordex,He explained that Cordex brings together only exporter guilds from different productive activities nationwide. In the case of Fedexpor, he said that more than 96 % of its partners are companies that export and 4 % export guilds, among which are the majority of the founders of Cordex.
“CORDEX is created by the coincidence in the Competitiveness and Security Agenda; as well as the construction of public policies according to the needs of each sector and that adapt to the reality and conjunctures that arise, such as the current logistics problem generated by the shortage of shipping spaces spots And the high costs of freight, ”said the banana leader, who added that in competitiveness, among other common aspects of the guilds that make up Cordex, there is the need to boost the signing of commercial agreements with the Eurastic Economic Union, China, South Korea, Japan; and other strategic markets to improve the access of their products.
"Cordex is not going to compete with Fedexpor, quite the opposite, we are going to complement ourselves in the objectives set; more, most of the founders of the new guild are partners and part of the Fedexpor directory, and we will continue working to strengthen this institution too," said Salazar.
This newspaper consulted Fedexpor executives about the creation of Cordex, but until the end of this edition there was no response.
