At the moment, Ecuadorian passengers cannot travel by Avianca from Quito to Coca.
The Colombian company Avianca decided to suspend 25 international routes. Network On the radio reported that, in this sense, the company "will strengthen its presence in the interior of Colombia."
However, Avianca's management does not want to talk about “elimination of routes”. Rather, it points to a temporary suspension of frequencies, among which is the connection between several Central American cities. "Some routes could operate again in April, others in the second half of the year," adds the report from the Colombian magazine.Week.
Avianca is one of the airlines bigger than Latin America and of the world. "We urge our passengers to be aware of our contact channels, to receive updated information," they commented. These are the routes that will have suspensions as of March 15.
- Guatemala City to Bogotá, Los Angeles and Tegucigalpa.
- San Salvador to Dallas, Miami, Houston, Toronto and Mexico City.
- Panama to San José and Bogotá.
- Bogotá to Curaçao, San Juan, Fort Lauderdale, Washington, Los Angeles, Orlando, La Paz, Santa Cruz, Asunción, Barcelona and London.
- Cali and Medellín to Madrid.
- San Pedro Sula to Miami.
The airline has committed to facilitating up to three date changes per year, without penalties, until December 31, 2021, for users who already have a ticket on those suspended routes.
In the case of Ecuador, the airline has suspended the route between Quito and Coca since last year and has few frequencies to Galapagos. The airline that operates in Ecuador has not been able to put into operation all the routes it had before the pandemic.
