In this first quarter, Puerto Bolívar will incorporate the first gantry cranes and RTG yard cranes, which are part of a modernization plan for that terminal that is operated by Yilport.
Alfredo Jurado von Buchwald, CEO of Yilport Puerto Bolívar,He indicated that “in a few more weeks the first two gantry cranes and six RTG yard cranes will arrive.” The estimated arrival date of the teams is March 15.
With this equipment, the Orense terminal will improve its operational capacity, as it also helps increase productivity times. Other ports that operate in Guayaquil already have this type of cranes.
As part of the modernization and expansion project, Yilport has indicated that it has ordered 6 Ship-to-Shore (STS) gantry cranes and 18 RTG-type electrified Rubber Tyred Gantry (E-RTG) gantry cranes from Mitsui E&S Machinery Co. to increase the operational capacity of the terminal.
At the same time as the announcement of the arrival of this equipment, Yilport began work on the construction of thePier #6 of Puerto Bolívar.
The work, which also includes the development of support areas, will allow the terminal's capacity to be increased to 600,000 TEU per year, according to data collected by theMaritime Chamber of Ecuador.

Yilport has the concession of Puerto Bolívar for 50 years. At the end of Phase 1 expansion, Yilport plans to have the capacity of 1 million TEU and within its five phases to increase the capacity to 2.5 million TEU.
