Tulcán is the second town of Carchi to be declared a development pole, after the Montúfar canton that was formalized as a productive multisectoral development pole on January 26.

This new productive pole, the first on the northern border, has 200 hectares and is located five kilometers from the Rumichaca International Bridge and two kilometers from the Carchi electric repowering plant, Torres said.

The other development poles declared at the national level are: The declared development poles are located in the provinces ofCañar(Austro productive development pole focused on metalworking),Guayas(Logistics and Industrial Development Pole in Yaguachi),Store(Industrial Development Pole of Canton Catamayo and El Charán Agroindustrial Development Pole),Pichincha(Logistic and Industrial Development Pole in the Mejía canton and the Itulpark Logistics and Industrial Development Pole in Pifo;Tungurahua(Productive Development Pole of Footwear in the Unamuncho Parish in Ambato); andCarchi(Productive Multisectoral Development Pole in the Montúfar canton)
