Government declares void process to delegate Manta airport

Directorate of Aviation indicated that a new process will begin.

Almost three months after the Lenín Moreno administration delegated the administration of the Eloy Alfaro de Manta airport through a decree, the government of Guillermo Lasso has reversed this process.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Ecuador decided to declare that direct delegation process void, thus leaving the award phase and the signing of the contract without a floor.

Last April, the Moreno government decided to delegate the management of the Maintain terminal to the Korean Airports Corporation (KAC). It was intended to delegate the administration to that South Korean firm for 30 years.

This process had raised concerns in the productive sectors of Manta, who requested that the conditions and benefits that this delegation would bring be reviewed.
