World fruit fair: certifications play an important role for European buyers

Fruit Attraction is carried out in Spain with the participation of 45 Ecuadorian exporting companies.

Certifications, which are important entrance doors for a market as demanding as the European, also come aboard the proposals that banana exporters and some Ecuadorian exotic fruits have brought the Fruit Attraction World Fair. The event celebrated its second day of appointments, contacts and satisfactory reunions between sellers and their clients, once the pandemic has allowed it.

There are diverse seals of origin and quality that exporters have brought, with the support of Corpei. Lately, other certifications have been added, such as Fortrade, which is the one that ensures fair trade guaranteeing compliance with minimum price standards, democratic operation of the organization of producers, adequate payment for labor and others.

While the global seal G.A.P. It establishes voluntary standards that allow to certify agricultural products in all parts of the world, and Ecuador is no exception. It is based on the growing concern for food security and environmental protection, and demands that the guarantee of good practices in this sector be essential. Of this type of enabling stamps he knows fully Galo Molina, who exports organic bananas from Balao, in the province of Guayas, through his company Marplantis.

The second day of Fruit Attraction showed that little by little visitors are returning with confidence to this type of event, suspended for almost two years. Luis Contreras, from Firesky, says he has been satisfied with having brought his offer to Spain, because more of greeting and dialogue with his usual customers, he has been able to know others and open options to new markets.

With him coincides Jorge Alejandro, from Eko Plantains, who since Quevedo, in the province of Los Ríos, goes to a world fair like this, with the logistical support of Corpei. While from Naranjal (Guayas) exhibits his fruit in Madrid Expobanapri, led by Ronny Chica, general manager of that family agricultural company.

Juan Carlos Baquero is the Vice President of Strategic Operations and Business of the Logistikalliance Group, which offers the maritime and aerial transportation services of the products of the other exhibitors. The Fruit Attion, to which his group had come before, has covered his expectations of opening new markets, he said.
