Ecuador exported the first container of pitahaya to Europe

The fruit was exported by the company Disproducsa, of the Nobis Group. In 2020 $ 60 million of the fruit was exported to other markets around the world.

The companyDisproducsa, ofGroup us, made the first export of pitahaya from Ecuador to Europe, reported theDeep Water Port, DP World Posorja, terminal where the fruit came from.

"Before it was only sent by air to the Old Continent, now it was sent by sea, complying with all the standards that export to demanding markets, such as Europe, implies," the port highlighted in a statement.

Meanwhile, according to Disproducsa projections, the objective is to position itself in the main supermarkets in Europe and export approximately 200 tons of the fruit.

The pitahaya is one of the non-traditional fruits with the highest growth in Ecuador. It went from exporting$ 6 millionin the2016to approximately$ 60 millionin the2020.
