Ecuador exported 416 tons of rice to Guatemala

A similar amount to Costa Rica will be exported next week.

In total 416 tons of pile rice were exported to Guatemala during this week by sea. The next shipment will be made to Costa Rica with a similar amount. It is planned in the following days.

In addition, Ecuador aspires to specify the sale of more than one thousand tons of the grass to Paraguay and meet the requirement of 200 tons requested from France.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), this is part of the strategies it promotes for the export of overproduction of the country's rice sector.

The private company in coordination with the Undersecretariat of Agricultural Marketing of the MAG and the Agency for Fiti and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control (Agrocality) were the ones that managed the opening of these new markets, which will allow evacuating this product and regulating the price of the grass.

Álex Ibarra, Undersecretary of Agricultural Marketing of the MAG, indicated that "with this evacuation, the pilaadores will be prepared to receive the September harvest."

It is expected that these exports continue until November, which is able to avoid oversupply and stabilize prices in the local market.
