Eastern Airlines will arrive in Quito and will link it to Miami and New York from May

The airline announced that it will start these two operations from May 26.

The options that the Ecuadorian capital has to connect with American cities will increase starting next May. To the flights you have to Miami (American), Houston (United), Atlanta (Delta) and Fort Lauderdale (JetBlue),Quito will have more frequencies to Miami and will add the New York destination.

Eastern Airlines, which already operates in Guayaquil, will incorporate Quito as its new destination. Their planes will arrive in that city to make flights to Miami and New York.

The airline announced thatThese two operations will start on May 26. Two days later it will also start its flights betweenLos Angeles and Guayaquil, which will be an option to connect Ecuador with the west coast of the United States.

This company has authorization from the National Civil Aviation Council of Ecuador to fly these new frequencies. Before, he processed the permits in the United States.

To grant the authorizations, the Council evaluated the conditions of that market. Despite the pandemic, according to the analysis, the routes have high occupancy coefficients; which shows the demand for flights in these.

Last year, the Miami-Guayaquil-Miami route grew to 8.59% participation; New York-Guayaquil-New York at 6.71%; Miami-Quito-Miami at 5.19%.

Eastern has begun ticket sales on its website for the new destinations it will add in May. Thus, for example, advance purchase tickets on the Miami-Quito route are sold in $ 266 and those of the Quito-New York route from $286.72 for the first few days.

Since February 2019, Quito stopped having direct flights to New York once Tame stopped flying to that destination.

Luis Galárraga, Quiport Communication Manager, maintains that the opening of flights to New York is important because it is one of the main destinations for passengers departing from the capital. “A high percentage of people who travel from Quito to the United States have New York as their final destination, therefore it is important to have a direct route,” he says.

The spokesperson points out that they hope that the routes are consolidated and successful so that they are maintained. Galárraga indicates that the routes that leave to the United States from the capital have high demand.

Currently, Eastern has a major expansion plan in Latin America. In this semester, in addition to the routes in Ecuador, it will add others to Brazil and the Dominican Republic.

During the pandemic, it was one of the airlines active in transporting American passengers who were stranded in different Latin American countries, including Ecuador.
